5 Tips for Killing it at Your Boudoir Session | North Carolina Studio

Boudoir photography is a very vulnerable & personal type of photography. But, Beyond those nerves is a whole universe of rocking self-awareness, mega confidence, and pure empowerment vibes!

Here are 5 tips for rocking your session & bringing out that inner badass!

1. Remember Your ‘Why'

There is a reason behind why everyone wants a boudoir session. Maybe you’re growing to truly love your postpartum body. Maybe you’re celebrating a milestone in life. Maybe you’re gifting your partner. Perhaps you’re looking to give yourself the ultimate pampering experience. We’ll work together to fulfill your ‘why’ during your session!

2. Keep Honest Communication

The last thing I want is for you to want or need something before, during or after your session & not get it. This is _your_ boudoir journey which means it is _all about you_! If you’re nervous, say so. If you don’t like something, say so. If you absolutely love something, say so. As much as I’d love to be able to read your mind, I haven’t figured out how to do it yet :)

3. Style Your Wardrobe for You

Even if you want to try something different when it comes to your outfits, make sure to also pack other items that are true to who you are in case. This way, you can try something out of the ordinary for you, but also stay true to yourself during your session.

4. Show That Confidence

Nerves are a normal part of boudoir, but if you push past that & show your confidence (even if you have to fake at first) then that will shine through in your images. Then I’ll show you how amazing you really look on the back of the camera. After that, you’ll actually _feeling_ like the confident Goddess you are!

5. Don’t Worry Over Posing

That’s my job! I’ll pose you from head to toe (which are always pointed by the way) & in the most flattering way. I’ll more than likely also show you the pose myself first, just to give you a visual. Before your session begins we’ll go over little tricks, but you don’t have to remember these since I’ll be handling that part.

6. BONUS TIP: Be Present

We often times see certain images & poses of other women’s sessions & want to strive to capture the same thing. I’m here to tell you that every session & every woman is different. This experience is personalized to suit _you_! Just be present during your session & be in the moment. To work to be someone else. This is a time to let go of how you’ve been conditioned to act, dress & be, & to finally give yourself permission to have confidence & feel sexy!!!
